Prosper² are very proud and privileged to support international human rights charity, Love146. The organisation works to help rehabilitate and protect young victims of human trafficking and exploitation. Established over 15 years ago, Love146 is an independent UK charity that provides safe housing, supported accommodation, trauma informed practice, and safeguarding for young people who have experience human trafficking. The founders of Love146 were motivated to set up the charity after a trip to Thailand , where they witnessed first-hand the harm and abuse suffered by young people taken against their will.
“The stories of children caught in trafficking and exploitation are terrible. For some of us, the depth of pain and torment is difficult to process. Just imagining what they’ve gone through affects us deeply. But, as hard as it is to hear these stories, it is good for us to do so, because by hearing these stories, we can act now and become aware, and awareness leads to action.” Peter Dolby, UK Director of Operations.
Love146 collaborates with local authorities and child protection services to house victims and implement immediate safety plans, vetting any child’s relationships and connections to ensure they aren’t at risk of being further abused moved and exploited. The staff are on the frontline, setting up care systems to establish trust with each child or young adult, providing mental health support, education, daily life skills, and allowing them a safe space to recover.
The charity is incredibly proud to say they are the only UK agency to never lose a child once they have been identified and that is thanks to their extremely dedicated team of social workers, support workers, and carers.
The team not only works on the frontline, caring for young victims, they also campaign tirelessly to have the children’s voices heard, to raise awareness of how pervasive the exploitation is, and to advocate for the rights of displaced children. Love146 is currently lobbying the government and local authorities to improve current regulations, prevention policies, and legislation to help victims and prevent these crimes occurring.
Prosper² are glad to be able to support such an essential organisation and are thrilled to know our donation is being invested in creative materials, art projects, wellbeing and communication programmes, and theatre activities for the children and young adults supported by Love146 to engage in.
This is the start of Prosper² journey in supporting this charity and will be encouraging our engaged community of businesses to do the same.
A donation is a great way to support the work in protecting children and young people that have or are at risk of being trafficked. Love146 is deeply grateful to the funding it receives from faith communities, concerned individuals and charitable trusts; every pound you donate help’s us to provide safe and secure environments for survivors to thrive.
